The PMA Long Course is two year training programme held at prestigious Pakistan Military Academy (in Kakul, Abbottabad for male candidates who want to join the Pakistan Army as commissioned officers. This course is generally announced  twice a year usually in spring and autumn with course numbers denoting each batch (e.g., PMA Long Course 155, 156, etc.). Upon successful completion, cadets are awarded the rank of Second Lieutenant and officially commission into the Pakistan Army.

Age limit for pma long course

Age Calculation: The age is typically calculated from a specific date, such as the start date of the course or the registration deadline. Age limit for pma long course is different as per qualification. Various age limits are given below.

  • Intermediate or Equivalent:  17 to 22 years, 03 months relaxation in upper and lower limit

  • Graduates (2-year program):  17 to 23 years, 03 months relaxation in upper and lower limit

  • Graduates (4-year program):  17 to 24 years, no age relaxation

  • Serving Pak Air Force/Navy Soldiers:  17 to 23 years, 03 months relaxation in upper and lower limit
  • Serving Army Soldiers:  17 to 25 years, no age relaxation. 

Education requirements to join pma long course

  • Minimum 55% marks in FA/FSc or equivalent.

  • A Level with minimum 50% marks must obtain an equivalence certificate from IBCC.

  • Those who secure 60% in BA/BSc/BBA and 50% in intermediate can apply based on higher education.

  • Serving soldiers can apply with at least 50% marks in FA/FSc.

  • Students waiting for result can apply with minimum 55% in First year with hope certificate signed by Head of College.

Physical Standards required for pma long course

The Pakistan Army has  strict physical standards to ensure all the professional  combat duties. such as

  • Minimum Height: 5’4” (162.5 cm)

  • Weight: As per BMI (Body Mass Index)

  • Chest: Minimum expansion of 5 cm

  • Candidates must be physically fit to pass all tests, which includes running, push-ups, crunches, and chin-ups.

  • Marital Status: Unmarried

  • Gender: Only Males

Ineligiblity criteria for pma long course

There are some conditions which make the candidates ineligible to apply for pma long course that every candidate must read carefully to check your eligibility. These ineligible conditions are given below.

  • Rejected twice by the Inter-Services Selection Board (ISSB)
  • Three failures in initial test (Intelligence/Academic) will disqualify for future PMA Long Course
  • If you apply with in four months (120 days) gap of previous appearance at ISSB  then you are ineligible. although bar of 120 days is not applied to candidates appearing in GHQ/NHQ/AHQ Selection Board.
  • Dismissed/removed from government service including armed forces.
  • Convicted in court for any heinous offense (to be ascertained by competent military authority)
  • Declared permanently UNFIT by Appellate Medical Board (PUF by AMB). However, Pakistan Air Force candidates who are medically unfit to fly but fit for ground branches may undergo routine medical examination like normal candidates if they wish to join.
  • Medically ineligible due to hepatitis B and C (cannot apply for AMB)
  • Withdrawal from any Bonded Armed Forces College/Institution on disciplinary grounds. Withdrawal/dismissal/resignation or purchase of commission from any Armed Forces Officers Academy/Training Institution on any ground whatsoever
  • Forging/concealing educational certificates to get undue advantage will permanently disqualify the applicant for all types of commission in the armed forces.
  • Candidates declared with positive drug test will be considered permanent UNFIT for joining PMA/Training Institutes.

Yes You can join PMA after FSc either through pma long course or Technical Cadet Course.

Minimum qualification required for Lady Cadet Course is Bachelor degree either BE or BS. After FSc females can join AFNS to join pak Army.  

PMA long course is only for Male candidates. females can join pak army through LCC or AFNS.
